6 Ways To Protect Yourself From Corona Virus 1

Lately the “Corona Virus” or “Covid-19” is everywhere on the news. It’s pretty scary as the virus is extremely contagious and if you unfortunately get it you will be placed under quarantine. This will be until you no longer show signs of being infected with the virus or pose a threat of infecting other people. There are however ways that will help prevent you from getting the virus. But first, let’s look at some information regarding the virus.

What Are The Symptoms

The Corona Virus started in Wuhan, China in 2019 and is spreading around the world like a wild fire. There is no certainty as to how exactly it started, but there are believes that a human contracted it by eating a contaminated animal, a bat. People who are infected with the virus infect other people by coughing and sneezing. You can also get the virus if you touch a contaminated surface or object.

The virus causes the following symptoms – sneezing, coughing, shortness of breath, body aches and pains and fever. At first it may seem as if you have a common cold or flu, but the symptoms may become more severe. Usually the virus will be present in a person’s body for 14 days before any signs of having it is shown. Many people have died from the virus, but these have mostly been people with poor health and no access to a medical centre.

What Can I Do To Avoid Getting The Corona Virus?

1. Boost Your Immune System

Elder people are mostly at risk of getting the Corona Virus as their immune systems are not so strong anymore. But this doesn’t mean that if you’re a young athlete you won’t get it. By having a strong immune system you will stand a better chance of fighting of the virus or any other illnesses aswell as healing faster. Try to eat healthy foods and drink vitamins that contain vitamins and minerals that will boost your overall health.

2. Avoid Crowded And Public Places

Unfortunately with the Corona Virus being so highly contagious and fast-spreading it’s best to avoid your favourite mall until the virus is less contagious. Currently there are so many events being cancelled or postponed until further notice. Also if you must go to the mall to buy necessities try to stay away from overcrowded places and buy your groceries in advance.

3. Sanitize Your Hands Regularly

Most importantly sanitize your hands. We often forget that we come into contact with so many germs daily by touching dirty surfaces and objects and we forget to wash our hands afterwards. Unfortunately there is an uncountable amount of germs out there and to avoid getting it is to play it safe. Also wash your hands with running water and soap as soap is the most efficient way of killing the virus.

4. Sneeze Into Your Elbow

If you have the flu or feel unwell try to sneeze into your elbow or cupped hands. Be considerate towards other people and their well-being. The Corona virus spreads mostly from person to person by coughing and sneezing and by touching contaminated objects. It is recommended to keep a safe distance of atleast 2 metres away from someone else.

5. Drink Plenty Of Water

Drinking water is very important. It does not only quench your thirst it also keeps you hydrated. Hydration is extremely important as it helps for normal brain function and healthy organs. It boosts your immune system helping you prevent and fight of unwanted viruses and illnesses. Keeping your through moist will make you less prone to get infected with virusses.

6. Avoid Traveling

Most cases reported regarding the spread of the virus was from people traveling from one country to another. Try to avoid traveling to countries that have a high rate or risk of people infected by the Corona Virus. Thankfully the government and health organizations aranged for the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus through air travel, but one can never be too careful.

It is difficult to say as to how long the Corona Virus will pose a threat to people, but luckily many people have recovered from it.
